About Yoga for the People |

Yoga for the People is a grassroots, volunteer-run organization that relies on the support of the yoga community. We match volunteer instructors with nonprofit community providers who help unserved, underserved or at-risk people and provide community-based donation only classes. In addition, YFP provides support and education for yoga teachers choosing the path of yoga in service to those in need.
Mission:
Yoga for the People’s (YFP) mission is to create free, safe, accessible yoga classes for people of all genders, ages, races, cultures, physical and financial abilities, while also building a network of service opportunities and support for yoga teachers.
Vision:
Yoga for the People is is a movement fostering holistic wellness for all communities. We strive to break down barriers of accessibility to yoga and mindfulness practices through working in collaboration with service providers and community members. To provide brave/safe, culturally responsive spaces to cultivate body-mind awareness and to help improve the physical and mental well-being of all individuals involved. Through quality and accessible yoga programming, we hope community members will feel empowered in their bodies, minds, feelings, choices and communities.

Access: We believe that practicing yoga enhances your health and well being and that all people should have exposure to this benefit.
Commitment: We provide high-quality, relevant trainings to yoga teachers to prepare them to be knowledgeable, reliable volunteers at our nonprofit partner sites.
Service: We believe that selfless service, is an integral component of a vibrant yoga practice.
