Linnea, Samadhi Yoga 200 Hour training, 2009 – Linnea went through teacher training with a goal of providing yoga in Spanish to Denver’s growing Latino population.  She founded our sister program Alas de Yoga, which is a group of volunteers that provide yoga classes in Spanish to low income Latinos in the Cole neighborhood.  Alas de Yoga is now a team of 12 volunteers who rotate teach free yoga classes at St Mary’s Community Center.

MK, Yoga for Young Warriors kids training, 2010 – MK is a graduate of the Axis Yoga 200 Hour training.  With a passion for at risk youth, MK taught children’s yoga at the Bridge project, a low income public housing facility with several refugee families.  MK now serves on our board of directors.

Jennifer, Yoga for Young Warriors kids training, 2011 – After contacting YFP to present to RMSER’s 150-person staff on yoga and meditation, Jennifer was inspired to start a kids yoga program at one of the school sites of RMSER.  She teaches adaptive yoga for kids with special needs and trains the teachers on her staff to use yoga in the classroom.

Jesus, Street Yoga Training, 2012- A graduate of the Axis Yoga 200 Hour training, Jesus (Jesse) went through Street Yoga’s Denver training for teaching yoga to communities in need.  Jesse’s dream is to make yoga culturally relevant and accessible for communities of color.

Kristen, Matthew Sanford’s MindBody Solutions Adaptive Yoga Training (MN), 2012.  Kristin leaves for Minnesota for training in June!  She says “I believe health is an important aspect in life and can be found through breath and movement.  I want to help people find a sense of relief by helping them stretch and move their bodies.  I want to provide adaptive yoga to our community, that will not only allow them to find increased awareness of their physical body but in their “subtle or energy” body as well.”
